Waves of Wellness – World Mental Health Day

Waves of Wellness
World Mental Health Day 2024
Wherever you are today readying this, a big wave from us to you. Here are some effective coping strategies to help manage mental health.
 1. Mindful Mornings
 Yoga/meditation/self reflection on the beach:
Start your day with a calming yoga session,  meditation or self reflection with the sound of the ocean as a backdrop. Find your quiet spot, get comfortable and just listen to your thoughts.
 2. Gratitude journals: what are you grateful for today? Write it down. In a few months time when you have passed the storm, go back and read this, you will be very surprised at just how far you have come.
3. Disconnect.
We are so glued to our phones, we are all guilty of it. Disconnect from social media (and the news), find something to distract yourself whether it be a new novel, game, or a nature walk.
4. Social Support
Connect with friends or family members. Talking about your feelings can provide relief and strengthen your support network
5. Beach Breathing
Salty sea air, open surroundings, grounding and pure nature. Find yourself in total calm when you practice simple breathing exercises.

6. Physical Activity:
Regular exercise, even a daily walk, can boost mood and reduce stress levels. Consider joining a gym or local sports group.

7. Healthy Eating
Nourish your body with balanced meals. Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins can support mental well-being.

Consider talking to a therapist, counselor or your GP. Professional support can provide you with the guidance you need. Find out more on the NHS website
